Texas A&M Fort Worth Breaks ground

Dirt has been turned on the first new building of Texas A&M's Downtown Fort Worth Campus. The new campus will not only transform a long-neglected corner of Downtown Fort Worth, but the city as a whole. 

First announced in 2021, A&M's investment in Downtown has been the topic of much discussion, and perhaps even more excitement.  A&M intends to be the anchor of a technology and research innovation district in downtown, providing additional high-end education and employment opportunities that have been much-needed in Tarrant County. 

The $150 million Law and Education Building, the first of three buildings planned for the 4-block campus, will stand eight stories and is expected to be completed in 2025. The architect team for the building was announced in January this year, with Stantec named the architect of record and Pelli Clarke & Partners serving as the design architect. The building will be the new home of the A&M School of Law, which is currently located on an adjacent block and has been the only A&M presence in the city. Additional courses offered by A&M, such as engineering and healthcare, will be held in the building. A member of the A&M system, Tarleton State University will also have a presence in the Law and Education Building. 

A number of contractors have been taksed with getting the structure built, including Turner Construction Company, CARCON Industries, Source Building Group Inc., and Dikita Enterprises.

Two buildings are planned in future phases of the campus, a Research and Innovation Building, which will add more classroom and lab space, and a Gateway Building, which is planned to contain more academic space, offices, and a conference center. 

 As of writing, no renderings or significant details have been released regarding the rest of the campus.
